The children’s poems of Dutch author Annie M.G. Schmidt gave me a permanent liking for irreverent humour. I’ll always remember “De Spin Sebastiaan” who has this urge that got him killed (“Daar gaat hij met zijn Drang!”) and the sweet “Suja Suja Prikkeltje” - a lullaby for a hedgehog.
