One of the admin jobs on a blog like this is updating the indexes. I am a child of librarians so indexes are important to me. I use them to organize information, give credit where credit is due, and provide me with a high-level view of what I’ve read and thought.
After today’s updates, there are now 363 authors and 380 books listed, reviewed or referenced, in 478 posts and on 105 pages. The tags, or subject, index has 4,533 items.
Nowadays, I sometimes read my old reviews as if they were written by someone else and occasionally I’m quite amused by what I wrote. Ah, those were the days when I still had a brain!
The irony is that despite the fact that I think I’m moderately well-read, what I’ve read and written about is a microscopic drop in the sea of books in the world. And one more thing: –
“No matter how many books you read, there is something in this world that you never ever ever ever ever fucking understand.”
― Mike Leigh, Naked
